Arapaho Blackberry

Arapaho was developed by the University of Arkansas fruit breeding program, part of its long-running series of blackberry releases named after Native American tribes, from a hand-pollinated cross of two unreleased Arkansas breeding selections (Arkansas Selection 631 and Arkansas Selection 883) made in 1982 at the program's Fruit Substation in Clarksville, Arkansas. Released in 1993, Arapaho became known as the earliest-ripening of the University of Arkansas's erect thornless blackberries, typically beginning harvest nearly two weeks ahead of the later-released Navaho, with medium-sized, firm fruit and excellent flavor.
