Fuerte Avocado
✓ VerifiedMexico
Fuerte was the dominant commercial avocado variety in California for decades before Hass eventually overtook it in the mid-20th century, originally brought from Mexico in the early 1900s and named "Fuerte," Spanish for "strong," after it proved to be one of very few trees to survive a severe California freeze that killed most other avocado plantings around it.
