Heritage Raspberry

Heritage was released in 1969 by Cornell University's New York State Agricultural Experiment Station and, for decades afterward, served as the industry standard against which every other fall-bearing (primocane-fruiting) red raspberry was measured. It produces two crops in a single season: a lighter summer crop on second-year canes, followed by a heavier autumn crop on first-year canes, with medium-sized, firm, deep red, sweet-tart fruit that holds up well for freezing and pick-your-own operations. Despite the release of many newer varieties since, Heritage remains widely grown commercially and in home gardens across North America, valued specifically for its rugged, disease-resistant canes and consistent, reliable yield.
