Panache Tiger

Panache Tiger, also called Panachée or Bizzarria di Sori, is a chimera sport of the Spanish variety Bordissot Blanca Rimada (called Brogiotto Bianco in Italy) — itself possibly a mutated branch of the Col de Dame Blanc lineage, according to some collectors' informal genetic assessment, propagated vegetatively once the striped sport appeared. Its distinctive green-and-yellow striped skin and pink to bright red flesh have made it one of the most visually recognizable fig varieties among collectors. Ira Condit's monograph notes the origin of this specific sectorial chimera "has not been learned," describing it only as a documented sport of Bordissot Blanca. Like other chimera-derived striped figs, it can occasionally revert to solid coloring on individual branches over time. The fruit ripens late, requiring a long, warm season, with harvest running from August through early November where climate allows, and the flavor is often described as having a distinctly berry or raspberry character. The tree can grow fairly tall (up to about 12 feet) and is self-fruitful.
