Peter's Honey is documented by at least one fig-history source as a US nursery-trade name for the same variety complex known in Italy as Dottato and in the United States more widely as Kadota — meaning it may not represent a genuinely distinct cultivar so much as another name applied to that same widely-grown, ancient variety, which has a documented commercial drying history stretching back over 2,000 years in the Mediterranean. Given this real ambiguity in the sourcing, growers should not assume a "Peter's Honey" tree is necessarily genetically distinct from a Kadota or Dottato tree sourced elsewhere. Where distinct, the fruit is described as sweet, soft-skinned, and yellow-green.
