Sabara Jaboticaba

Jaboticaba is native to Brazil, where it has been eaten for centuries by Indigenous peoples and later incorporated into Brazilian cuisine and folk medicine, and it remains most famous for an unusual habit found in few other cultivated fruits: it fruits directly on the trunk and older branches rather than on new growth, a trait called cauliflory that gives a mature tree the striking appearance of being entirely studded with grape-like fruit. Sabara, the most widely available cultivar internationally, is prized specifically for reliable production of this trunk-borne fruit.
