Texas Everbearing Fig

Texas Everbearing is a synonym-heavy variety, most often identified as the same fig as Eastern Brown Turkey or English Brown Turkey — genuinely important to distinguish from the separate, similarly-named "California Brown Turkey," which is properly called San Piero and is a different variety entirely, despite the two being frequently confused by growers and even some nursery catalogs. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension lists it among varieties suggested for trial in Texas, describing it as less cold hardy than Celeste, with medium to large, reddish-brown skinned fruit, reddish-pink pulp, and mild sweet flavor, producing two crops annually. Fig collector Lee Reich, who grows both this variety and San Piero, has specifically documented the naming confusion between the two in his own collection, noting they are genuinely distinct despite the overlapping "Brown Turkey" branding.
